Description

Registered Nurse — Labor & Delivery

Location

  • Colorado Springs, Colorado

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift

  • Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • At least 2 years of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience
  • Ability to circulate C-sections in the OR
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • Ability to read fetal monitor strips
  • Ability to titrate drips

Schedule Requirements

  • Weekend and holiday coverage required
  • 18 hours of call per 6 weeks
  • Self-scheduling process, with flexibility to fill staffing needs as required

Floating Requirements

  • Must float to postpartum
  • May float within the listed zone if needed

Unit Details

  • Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby unit
  • 22 Labor & Delivery beds
  • 2 OR suites for C-sections
  • 7 triage beds
  • 34 postpartum beds
  • Typical volume: 8–12 births per day, about 2,900 per year

Clinical Environment

  • Common patient types include labor, C-section, pre-eclampsia, IDM, and antepartum complications
  • Common drips include oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
  • Surgical techs are available on the unit
  • Anesthesia is in house 24/7
  • Neonatologist is not in house 24/7
  • Level III NICU support is available

Orientation

  • 1 shift of unit orientation
  • Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote

Additional Notes

  • Hospital-provided scrubs
  • Radius restriction: 60 miles
  • Driver’s license must be submitted
