Description

CVICU Registered Nurse

Location

Houston, Texas

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • Scheduled based on unit needs
  • Every other weekend required
  • 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks
  • Holidays as needed
  • No self-scheduling
  • No call or standby requirement

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • ICU RN experience
  • Must be open to floating
  • Must be flexible with scheduling
  • Experience in a very busy hospital
  • Experience with titrating drips

Experience Preferences

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Prior travel experience
  • CRRT training preferred, but training will be provided

Unit Details

  • High-acuity CVICU
  • 8A has 8–12 beds
  • 8B has 13 beds
  • Typical ratio is 1:2, with occasional 1:1 assignments
  • Charge RN is usually assigned patients
  • 1 PCA on the floor
  • Intensivist model
  • RT assigned to the unit
  • Hardwire monitoring

Common Patient Population

  • Heart transplant patients
  • Lung transplant patients
  • LVAD patients
  • ACB and valve surgery patients

Equipment / Clinical Exposure

  • Vasoactive drips for cardiac patients
  • LVAD
  • CRRT/SLED
  • Impella
  • IABP

Floating

  • First to float out depending on competency

Dress Code

  • Teal scrubs

Orientation

  • 2–3 shifts with preceptors

Parking

  • Daily parking is available at additional cost
  • Monthly parking pass options are available at additional cost
