CVICU Registered Nurse
Overview

- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic
Experience Preferences
- 3+ years of experience
- Prior travel experience
- Experience working in a very busy hospital
Unit Details
- High-acuity CVICU with 8A and 8B beds
- Typical patient ratios are 1:2, with occasional 1:1
- Common patient populations include heart and lung transplants, LVAD, ACB, and valve surgery patients
- Vasoactive drips are used for cardiac patients
- Intensivist model
- Respiratory therapy is assigned to the unit
- Hardwire monitoring is used
- Charge RN usually has patients
- One PCA on the floor
Scheduling and Work Expectations
- Scheduled based on unit needs
- 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks
- Must be willing to work any holidays
- No call or standby requirement
- First to float out depending on competency
- 2–3 shifts of orientation with preceptors
Additional Notes
- CRRT is preferred, but training is available
- Teal scrubs required
- Daily parking is available at additional cost
