Overview

Required Qualifications

• Active Washington RN license
• BLS certification
• Chemo certification
• 2 full years of experience
• Oncology experience
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam during onboarding
• Pending license needed to submit

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation with permanent staff
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required within the Med Surg/Tele service line and, if needed, throughout the region

Unit Details

• 28-bed Med Surg Oncology unit
• Typical patient mix includes oncology and general med surg patients
• Hospice inpatient program is also housed on the unit
• Ratios are 1:4-5
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and typically does not take patients
• CNA support is provided on the unit
• RT manages CPAP/BiPAP equipment

Clinical Responsibilities

• May titrate heparin and Cardizem drips, and other cardiac drips may be seen
• Nurses perform nebulizer treatments, breathing treatments, and trach suctioning
• Central line and port experience is expected, including access and sterile dressing changes

Orientation

• Epic class on first shift
• 1-2 days with a preceptor, maximum 2 days
