Role Summary

  • Operates medical imaging equipment for diagnostic echocardiography and produces preliminary reports for Cardiologist review.

Unit / Department

  • Echocardiography

Required Qualifications

  • Echo Technologist with 2 years of experience
  • Echo Technologist experience within the last year
  • RDCS or RCS or RCCS or ARDMS
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and use color doppler, power doppler, spectral doppler, and M-mode
  • Demonstrates ability to perform portable exams
  • General understanding of Synapse Echocardiography computerized system and its function
  • Demonstrates knowledge in maintaining/recording information regarding the GUS, cleaning/storage of TEE probe, testing of Resert, and test strips
  • Knowledge of Peripheral IV placement if indicated for exam (i.e., Agitated saline study, Definity, and stress echo)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Synapse system for specific exam performed to complete a preliminary report to be interpreted by Cardiologist
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Synapse & PACS system

Responsibilities

  • Performs Echocardiogram, Limited Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram, and Transesophageal Echocardiogram
  • Uses echocardiography equipment and Doppler modalities
  • Performs portable exams
  • Sends images to Synapse and PACS
  • Charges exams within EPIC
  • Documents patient care services in electronic medical records
  • Supports patient interaction, teamwork, and professional communication

Preferred / Additional Notes

  • Knowledge of Synapse Echocardiography system
  • Knowledge of PACS and Synapse workflow
  • Knowledge of peripheral IV placement if indicated for the exam, when certification requirements have been met per policy
  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid
  • The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract
  • Travelers living within 50 miles of the facility receive a lower local rate
