Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of independent practice experience and required pediatric echo experience.

Details

  • Outpatient pediatric cardiology clinic attached to the hospital, with inpatient portable scans also performed
  • Traveler will work between the outpatient clinic and the main hospital
  • 15 imaging rooms available, typically only 1 utilized for Pediatric Cardiology
  • Patient population includes neonates, pediatric, and adult patients with congenital heart disease, ranging from premature babies through patients in their 60s
  • Average patient volume of 6 outpatient and 2 inpatient scans per day
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Equipment: Philips
  • Schedule consists of 4x9-hour shifts per week with a rotating weekday off
  • Weekend rotation of every 3rd weekend, with more availability optional
  • Call requirements include 1-2 nights per week starting after last clinic patient until approximately 7am, plus weekend call from Friday morning to Monday morning
  • Holiday expectations limited to call coverage only, as practice is closed 6 days per year
  • Will float between inpatient and outpatient care areas
  • 12-week schedule cycle, subject to change

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of independent practice experience required; 3 years preferred
  • Pediatric experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • ARDMS Adult (AE) registry required with pediatric experience; Pediatric (PE) registry preferred
  • Compact or Maine license required if applicable
  • Experience with neonatal, pediatric, and adult congenital heart disease patients
  • Strong assessment skills, including ability to recognize patient fatigue and determine when scanning breaks are needed

Additional Information

  • Support team includes a Patient Service Rep, 2 RNs, 5 MAs, 2 additional sonographers, 3 cardiologists, and a Clinical Informaticist for PACS/Cerner support
  • On-call cardiologists will notify sonographer of scan timing needs (e.g., next morning, within the week)
  • Orientation includes HR orientation and required modules to be completed within the first week, followed by 1-2 weeks of clinical orientation based on experience
  • Scrubs must be any solid, professional color; scrubs can be provided if needed
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
