Med Surg RN

Overview

• Contract RN role in Mauston, Wisconsin.
• Provides care to Med/Surg and EICU patients.
• Weekender day shift: Friday-Sunday, 6:30am-7:00pm.
• 32 hours per week.
• 13-week contract.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience.

Preferred

• BSN.
• PALS encouraged.

Role Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, document, and evaluate patient care for a group of patients.
• Use the nursing process throughout the patient’s hospitalization.
• Provide individualized care based on patient needs and situation.
• Initiate, develop, and document the plan of care based on assessment and medical diagnosis.
• Provide care independently within unit requirements, physician orders, and policy/procedure.
• Respond to life-threatening situations according to nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
• Perform or assist with procedures per departmental policy.
• Observe, record, and communicate significant patient condition changes.
• Notify the provider of changes in condition, reactions to drugs or treatment, and significant incidents.
• Administer medications, including IV therapy.
• Educate patients and families on care and discharge needs.
• Collaborate with other health team members.
• Safely care for multiple patients.
• Follow Universal Precautions, asepsis, and infection control procedures.
• Handle specimens properly.
