Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med Surg assignment in Petoskey, MI. The RN will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Medical Surgical unit, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate must have strong acute care Med Surg experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma facility and be comfortable handling a wide range of patient conditions.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med Surg patients during night shifts
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
Monitor patient conditions and document clinical findings accurately
Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and healthcare teams
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control protocols
Required Qualifications
Active RN License (Michigan license verification required – LARA & Nursys)
Minimum 2 years of recent straight Med Surg RN experience required
Experience must be true Med Surg only
Step Down, Telemetry, Float Pool, or mixed-unit experience will not qualify
Recent Level I or Level II Trauma hospital experience required
BLS Certification (AHA) required
Travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Requirements
Skills checklist completed within one year required for RN specialties
If license has prior disciplinary action or hit, candidate should provide an explanation/write-up for manager review
