Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) | Night Shift

Assignment Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Night Shift
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Setting: Progressive Care Unit / Step-Down

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to manage patients who are hemodynamically stable or at risk for clinical deterioration. This role requires strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions in a step-down environment.

Clinical Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a PCU/Step-Down setting
Monitor and manage patients with cardiac and medical-surgical conditions
Perform ongoing patient assessments and implement care plans
Administer medications and IV therapies
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Assist with discharge planning and patient education
Supervise and provide direction to LPNs, CNAs, and support staff
Float to Med-Surg unit as needed based on staffing requirements
Patient Population
Cardiac patients (pre/post PCI, pacemaker, revascularization)
Post-surgical cases (thoracotomy, carotid endarterectomy)
Chronic and acute conditions including CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, sepsis, DVT, PE
Clinical Skills & Equipment
Cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation
Ventilator support (invasive and non-invasive)
Central lines, arterial lines (A-lines), chest tubes
Nasogastric tubes and continuous bladder irrigation
Multiple IV pumps and infusion therapies
Common Medications
Heparin
Diltiazem
Dobutamine
Milrinone
Amiodarone
Dopamine
Requirements
Active RN License (must be in good standing)
Minimum 3 years of recent PCU / Step-Down or Critical Care experience
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
Pediatric experience preferred
Post heart catheterization experience preferred
TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred
Additional Details
EMR System: Meditech
Holiday coverage required
On-call may be required
Overtime applicable after 40 hours/week
