Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Schedule: Full-time; Every Other Weekend & Every Other Holiday

Position Overview

MiraVista Behavioral Health Center is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join its team in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The RN will provide direct and indirect patient care in an inpatient behavioral health setting while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
The successful candidate must be comfortable floating to similar or lower-acuity units and taking charge when required.

Responsibilities
Provide direct and indirect nursing care to psychiatric patients and their families/legal guardians.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient environment.
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Assess patients and contribute to appropriate goals and interventions based on presenting psychiatric conditions.
Apply the nursing process using a trauma-informed and recovery-focused approach.
Establish therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Monitor patient behavior and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
Utilize crisis management and de-escalation techniques as needed.
Administer medications and treatments according to established policies and procedures.
Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
Delegate and coordinate patient-care activities appropriately.
Provide support, coaching, and teamwork within the unit.
Float to similar or lower-acuity units as needed.
Take charge responsibilities when assigned.
Maintain a calm, organized, and professional approach in stressful situations.

Requirements

Active Massachusetts RN license required.
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience; inpatient psychiatric/substance-use experience preferred.
3 years of experience preferred based on facility requirements.
CPR certification required.
BSN preferred.
Experience with behavioral health and substance-abuse treatment modalities preferred.
Experience with restraint-reduction, de-escalation, and crisis intervention preferred.
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
Strong time-management, delegation, coaching, and team-building skills.
Basic computer and electronic medical record skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
Must be willing to float to similar or lower-acuity units when needed.
Must be willing to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
Must be willing to take charge responsibilities when assigned.

Variable assignments may be required based on unit needs.
