Location: Janesville, WI
Facility: Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center – Mercy Manor & Transitional Care Center
Contract: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift with 24/7 accountability
Hours: 40 hours/week guaranteed / 80 hours per 2 weeks
Holiday Coverage: Required

Position Overview

Mercyhealth is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) / RN Unit Supervisor to provide nursing leadership within a Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care setting. The DON will oversee nursing operations, staff supervision, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, resident care, and coordination of interdisciplinary services.

This position provides 24/7 accountability for nursing services while primarily working Monday through Friday during the day.

Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to the nursing department.
Develop and maintain nursing objectives, standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
Coordinate nursing services with resident services to ensure continuity of care.
Supervise, train, evaluate, assign, and delegate duties to nursing staff.
Assist with hiring and staff development while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
Coordinate resident assessments, care planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Participate in interdisciplinary and resident care planning teams.
Support restorative care and other resident-care programs.
Monitor and maintain resident rights, safety, and quality of care.
Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce nursing department policies.
Assist with budgeting and maintain monthly expense records.
Ensure appropriate infection-control practices are followed.
Provide continuing education and ensure staff competency.
Monitor nursing quality and regulatory compliance.
Track and report monthly quality indicators, including falls, skin issues, psychotropic medication use, and chart compliance.
Serve as a resource and advocate for residents, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
Ensure nursing services comply with applicable Federal and Wisconsin State regulations.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
BSN required upon hire.
Active RN license in the state of practice.
Minimum 3 years of experience.
2–4 years of supervisory/leadership experience in Long-Term Care, or demonstrated leadership/management experience in an LTC facility.
Strong knowledge of SNF/LTC reimbursement systems and State/Federal regulations.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.
BLS/BCLS required.
Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, PEARS, or NRP may be required depending on unit requirements.
Must have previous Wisconsin SNF/LTC experience.
