Director of Nursing (DON) / RN Unit Supervisor

Overview

• Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care facility role located within a hospital and trauma center setting.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday day shift with 24/7 accountability.
• Hours: 40 per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Long Term Care experience within the last year.
• 2 years of Long Term Care experience.
• Experience in supervisory roles.
• Director of Nursing experience.
• Long Term Acute Care experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Other certification per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate nursing care activities to improve continuity of care across the continuum.
• Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures to provide nursing services that meet Federal and State regulatory requirements.
• Provide continuing education to ensure staff competency.
• Provide consultative direction and expertise in nursing services to support assessment, improvement, and quality maintenance programs.
• Lead shift supervision through hiring, training, evaluation, assignment, and delegation of duties within budget and resident census guidelines.
• Complete, evaluate, and report monthly quality data, including falls, skin, psychotropic medications, and chart compliance.
• Develop and maintain departmental objectives, standards of nursing practice, and nursing policy and procedure manuals.
• Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of residents’ total regimen of care.
• Oversee assessment, coordination, planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation in case management.
• Organize resident care programs, including the interdisciplinary team, resident care planning team, and restorative care program.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce department policies.
• Generate input into the budget process and maintain monthly expense records.
• Guide and enforce proper infection control practices.
