Registered Nurse – Med/Surg

Shift: 3 x 12 Hours, Nights

NuWest Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to support a Medical/Surgical unit. The ideal candidate has strong med/surg nursing experience, solid clinical judgment across a varied patient population, and the ability to manage a demanding caseload with confidence and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a diverse med/surg patient population, including assessment, care planning, and ongoing monitoring.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including monitoring for changes in condition and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Manage a full patient assignment, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical need.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, post-operative monitoring, and other med/surg nursing interventions as needed.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care.
• Accurately and thoroughly document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the EMR.
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including rapid response and emergency situations.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Active RN license in [state] or Compact RN license.
• Minimum 1–2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work both day and night shifts as scheduled.
• Comfortable managing a full patient load in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Excellent teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
