Position Overview

NuWest is seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse for a travel contract opportunity in Washington. The NICU RN provides specialized, family-centered care to critically ill and premature newborns, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to support the health and development of each infant. The ideal candidate is a skilled, compassionate nurse who thrives in a high-acuity environment and is ready to start as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill, premature, and medically fragile newborns, including continuous monitoring and assessment
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and unit protocols
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as incubators, ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiorespiratory monitors
• Perform and respond to emergent situations, including neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
• Provide feeding support, including gavage, bottle, and breastfeeding assistance, and monitor growth and nutritional needs
• Educate and support families on infant care, and encourage parent bonding and participation in care
• Collaborate with physicians, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and carry out care plans
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record

Required Qualifications

• Active Washington or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a hospital setting; 3+ years preferred
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening
