Unit:
Intensive Care
Beds:
20 beds

Patient Ratios:
Variable based on acuity (ECMO 2:1, post open heart surgery 1:1, Critical ICU/devices pt 1:1, typical ICU assignment 1:2, stepdown assigned 1:3-4)

Days:
1 charge, 8-10 RNs, 1-3 LNAs, and sitter PRN

Nights:
1 charge, 8-10 RNs, 1-3 LNAs, and sitter PRN

Charge Nurse:

Patient Population
  • Mixed medical and surgical ICU
Required Certifications
Must be attached at submission:
  • ACLS, BLS
Minimum Experience Requirements
  • Telemetry
  • Ideally PCU or greater
Preferred:
  • Experience with critical drips, vents, etc.
  • Prior ICU experience

Unit was traveler friendly, staff was very nice and welcoming, felt supported, nice area of the country for exploring

Cons

Nurses do all their own vitals (not sure how that’s even possible on dayshift), limited resources, morale was low due to recent buyout by HCA
