Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Provide respiratory therapy services specializing in pediatrics.
  • Work primarily in a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
  • Weekend work as needed; weekend block scheduling may be considered but not guaranteed.
  • Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted.
  • Start date: ASAP.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in Tennessee
  • Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience)
  • Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Driver's License

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification

Compliance and Documentation

  • Two forms of government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license, social security card, passport).
  • Background check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • Education verification required; diploma/transcript alone is not sufficient.
  • Separate sex offender search required.
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands.
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 masks required within 1 year of start; must pass without limitations.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Immunization requirements include proof of vaccines or positive antibody titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (3-shot series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for this facility)
  • TB testing: True 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30); exemptions require mask-wearing in patient areas.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses glare, recent within 6 months).
  • Two recent professional references required.
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluations required if employed with agency for one year or more.
  • Submission packet includes application, references, skills checklist, state license verification, and certification information.
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RRTs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.

Notes

  • All Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission; late submissions will not be approved.
  • Onsite fit test and questionnaires may be required prior to start.
  • Candidates must sign confidentiality acknowledgment prior to start.
  • Flu exemption requests can delay start dates and require documentation.

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric respiratory therapists with prior travel contract experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in a pediatric trauma center setting.
