Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours, 18:45 - 7:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse with strong skills in circulating and scrubbing. The role involves working night shifts in a high-volume OR setting with approximately 45 cases across 17 rooms. No call or float requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience, including experience within the last year
- At least one completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Strong experience in both circulating and scrubbing roles
- Neurosurgery experience
- Orthopedic Surgery experience
- Vascular Surgery experience
Orientation & Training
- Minimum 36 hours (3 days) of unit orientation, excluding Epic training.
- Scrubs provided (Ceil Blue color).
Unit Systems & Environment
- Systems used: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR
- Communication includes staff meetings and communication boards.
Contract Details
- Contract length accepted: 13 weeks
- No call or float requirements.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree related to profession.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required.
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical).
- Immunizations and titers required: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with facility-specific declination if applicable). Declinations are generally not accepted except for Hepatitis B with specific form.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility policy.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required.
- Required to complete facility-specific education modules including medication safety, annual compliance training, and orientation checklists.
- Must complete competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency).
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years for travel acute care RNs.
- Employment application and skills checklist must be submitted.
Additional Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Interview with manager required prior to offer.
- Badge photo must be submitted promptly after signing contract to avoid start delays.
- Candidates must complete Corp ID and I-Learn account setup within specified timelines to avoid delays.
- Radiation badges required only if applicable to specialty (not typical for this role).
This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN with strong circulating and scrubbing skills, comfortable with neuro, ortho, vascular, or robotics specialties, seeking a 13-week travel contract on night shifts in North Carolina.
