Description

Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Travel Position

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Overview

  • Unit Type: Labor & Delivery
  • Beds: 16 LDR, 3 OR, 3 Triage, 3 Recovery Room
  • Staff: Approximately 70 total
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 12 RNs, 2-3 Surgical Techs
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, 1 Surgical Tech
  • Patient Ratios: AWHONN recommended ratios (1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 for low acuity)
  • Equipment: Novii monitors, iMobile, headsets, skin-to-skin C-section drape, deep soaker tubs, light therapy, aroma therapy
  • EMR Systems: CPN and Meditech
  • Coverage: 24/7 Hospitalist, Midwife, Anesthesia, Neonatologist

Typical Procedures

  • Labor, delivery, recovery, triage, antepartum care
  • Circulating for C-section
  • First hour baby care (excluding admission assessment, eyes, and thighs)
  • Breastfeeding assistance

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • AWHONN membership or certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at high-volume facilities (>3000 births per year)
  • Strong focus on patient preferences and cultural diversity

Work Environment & Culture

  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs, closed shoes; tattoos and piercings must be covered
  • Recognized for excellence in Labor & Delivery with multiple awards for quality and performance
