Job Title

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) / Operating Room Technician

Location

San Antonio, Texas

Employment Type

Travel Contract (13 weeks)

Work Schedule

10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (8-hour shift)

Job Summary

  • Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including skin preparation according to hospital standards.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for potential breaches.
  • Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to privacy.
  • Transport and position patients for surgery.
  • Identify and care for biological specimens.
  • Prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies based on the surgical case.
  • Establish and maintain sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed.
  • Use and update physician preference cards for case setup.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following technical and aseptic practices, universal barrier precautions, and OR sanitation policies.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment care.
  • Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control and dress codes.
  • Follow facility policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
  • Adapt patient care methods to meet population-specific and developmental needs.
  • Work effectively as a team member in patient care and cooperate in team planning and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist
  • Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • High school diploma or equivalent
