Description

Registered Nurse - PICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Clinical review and auto offer process
  • Work nights or rotating shifts
  • Work every other holiday
  • Work 3 weekends per six-week schedule
  • May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
  • Pediatric cardiac experience is a plus
  • Can submit application with Virginia license pending
  • Time off: Up to 40 hours approved; no time off approved during first 2 weeks of contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (can submit application with license pending)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Required years of experience: Minimum 1 year of recent PICU experience
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Health Requirements

  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year of start, 2nd step within 90 days) or Qgold test within 12 months (Tspot not accepted)
  • Tdap vaccination (must be received after age 11; no exemptions allowed)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; no declinations accepted for measles
  • Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required; if low/negative, Hep B Antigen titer required within 6 months of start
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required; declination accepted but will not hold clearance
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually

Background and Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
  • Education verification required; BSN preferred, ASN minimum if no BSN
  • Official transcript required (photocopy of diploma not accepted)
  • Fingerprinting required for Behavioral Health and certain units; may be required on a case-by-case basis for others
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check required only for Behavioral Health and specific units
  • Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually

  • Time off approval limited during initial contract period
  • Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
  • Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed
