Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology Nurse

Location: Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in a fast-paced Medical Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
• Responsibilities include triaging patient phone calls, responding to patient portal messages, entering physician orders (labs, diagnostics), following up on treatment plans and genetic testing.
• Coordinate diagnostics and patient care closely with Infusion and Radiation teams and physicians.
• Provide patient education related to chemotherapy.
• Track INR patients and follow iron infusion patients.
• Support Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Schedule

• Day shift, Monday through Friday
• 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 3 years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience
• Hematology/Oncology experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender registry.
• Wisconsin Caregiver Search within 90 days of start.
• 2 professional references verified within 2 years (for inpatient RNs, one must be from most recent acute care assignment).
• Annual skills checklist.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended but not required for this role.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) not required for this specialty.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (Chest X-Ray within 60 days if applicable).
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days of start (marijuana positive not disqualifying).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October to March).

Additional Facility Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport-style, shoulders up, no filters).
• Confidentiality statement signed prior to start.
• Compliance checklist to be completed by agency representative.
• Flu vaccine exemption forms if applicable.

Notes

• Locals accepted but at a lower rate (pay details excluded).
• This role involves direct patient care coordination in an outpatient oncology setting.
• The position requires strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
