Step Down Nurse

Job Overview

• Location: Montrose, Pennsylvania
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
• Hours per week: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Start date: No later than August 3, 2026

Role Summary

• Provide care for Step Down and Med-Surg Telemetry patients in a smaller hospital setting.
• Float between the Step Down Unit and Med-Surg Telemetry Unit as needed.
• May serve as Charge Nurse when required.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience

Preferred

• PALS

Key Clinical Skills

• Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips
• Foley catheter insertion
• Administer subcutaneous insulin
• Manage potassium runs
• Use and interpret cardiac monitors
• Identify and report low potassium levels and low oxygen saturations

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are welcome
• No floating to other facilities
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Documentation system used: Meditech
• Medication system used: Omnicell
