PACU Nurse

Job Overview

Travel/contract RN role in Saint Louis, Missouri
Night shift: Friday–Sunday, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
No call
First-time travelers accepted
Floating may be required within scope to PACU or PreOp units
Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Missouri
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (2 years of experience)
PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
Experience with Epic
Dysrhythmia recognition and management
Blood product administration
Intravenous vasopressor administration
Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
Care of ventilated patients
Trauma experience
Preoperative experience

Schedule

Weekend requirement: Friday–Sunday
36 hours per week

Unit / Patient Population

Adult, occasional adolescent, and geriatric patients
Level I trauma center
Recovery of complex post-op surgical patients, including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
Open heart surgeries and liver transplants are not recovered on this unit

Additional Notes

No block scheduling
No on-call requirement
RTO limit: no more than 7 days
Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
Night shift staff must learn to work up pre-op patients
