Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating Day/Night (12-hour shifts, 7:00am–7:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to similar patient population units including Emergency Department.
• Shifts may be variable to meet operational needs; facility will attempt to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Additional Requirements

• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Must pass background checks including:

  • FCRA-compliant 7-year criminal history search
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting (completed within 48 hours of contract signing, results required within 12 months and updated annually)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunization and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
• Completion of facility-specific online onboarding and training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone).
• Two professional references from within one year of start date, from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse (co-worker references not accepted).
• Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care in a similar area.

Orientation and Competency Testing

• Baseline competency exams on medication administration (SafeMedicate) and ECG interpretation required at orientation.
• Candidates unsuccessful on first attempt will receive remediation and retake opportunities.
• Orientation includes completion of facility-specific safety and onboarding modules.

Notes

• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their most recent contract at this facility may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.
• Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility.
• Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
• Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency and facility approval.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs who meet the licensing and certification requirements and are comfortable with rotating shifts and travel assignments.
