ICU Registered Nurse

Job Overview

  • Travel/contract RN role in Saint Louis, Missouri
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Every other weekend required
  • First-time travelers not accepted
  • Local candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility
  • Floating required within the ICU service line
  • On-call not required
  • Block scheduling not available
  • RTO limit: no more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • SICU - Surgical Intensive Care Unit experience

Key Clinical Experience

  • Medical Intensive Care Unit
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • CVP monitoring
  • Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • Chronic/acute renal failure
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line and PICC line care/management
  • IV initiation and maintenance
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Emergency medications
  • Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
  • Stroke management
  • BiPAP support
  • Ventilator care and management
  • ABG interpretation
  • Respiratory failure
  • ETT/NT suctioning
  • Infection prevention and isolation precautions
  • Phlebotomy
  • Surgical wound care with drains/Wound Vac

  • Acute chest pain, cardiac conditions, and arrhythmias
  • Stroke
  • Cardiac arrest

  • Multi-organ failure
  • Sepsis
  • Pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries
  • Medicine and neuro-medicine overflow
  • Pre- and post-transplant
  • End-of-life care and organ donation

  • Unit is in a short-term acute care, Magnet, teaching, Level I trauma hospital
