Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: North Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 18:45 - 07:15 (3x12 hour shifts)
Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend required
Patient Ratio: 1:3
Unit Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Job Description

• Work in Labor and Delivery with responsibilities including newborn assessment, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, pain management (epidural, PCA IV, opioids), administration of blood/products, and care for large for gestational age and low birth weight infants.
• Skills required include starting/maintaining peripheral IVs, managing CVC/PICC lines, medication administration (anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, oxytocin), phototherapy, circumcision care and teaching, car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, vaccine administration, phlebotomy, incision care, isolation precautions, and baby-friendly protocols including couplet care.
• Preferred skills: charge nurse experience, advanced AWHONN certification, and teaching circumcision care to parents.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
• NRP
• Experience with Cerner
• Administration of blood products
• CVC/PICC line management
• Administration of medications including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and oxytocin
• Assist with circumcision
• Neonatal abstinence syndrome care
• Pain management with opioids and pain assessment
• Couplet care
