Description
ICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:30 - 7:00)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- ICU night shift with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Float to other units required
- Weekend shifts required
- Option to work either 36 or 48 hours per week
- First-time travel nurses are welcome
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, CPI
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Required immunizations/vaccinations with proper documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
- Photo for badge required
- Employment application and resume required
- 7-year work history verification required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable (minimum 80% passing score)
- Color blindness test required (online version accepted)
- Core HIPAA and safety training acknowledgment required
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required
- Candidates can attend orientation and training pending fingerprint clearance but cannot work until clearance is received
- Medical exemptions for vaccines must be signed by a provider and approved; religious exemptions require specific documentation
- Declinations for vaccines (except Hepatitis B) are generally not accepted
- Flu vaccine documentation must be current and cannot state “per history” or similar vague terms
