Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
  • Shift Hours: Varying start times between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM; end times between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: PET/CT scans may be performed on Saturdays if needed (e.g., equipment downtime or backlog)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities

  • Parking: Paid parking at nights and weekends only (one-time $20 pass)
  • Note: During hurricane season (June-November, peak in August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NMTCB(N) or ARRT(N) certification
  • NMTCB(CT) or ARRT(R) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Completed and accurate I-9 form with E-Verify attestation
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • Statewide and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search (for sub vendors)
  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3)
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Facility-specific first day instructions and mandatory orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) must be completed prior to start
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo with solid light background, business casual or job-appropriate attire, no posing or side views

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or declination form completed
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest X-ray if prior positive test
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31) with documentation uploaded by December 5 deadline; no declinations accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Radiation exposure attestation required prior to start

  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval but is not guaranteed
  • Local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off one shift per two weeks
  • Radiation badge process can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care without receiving their badge
  • Agencies must provide monthly or quarterly radiation exposure reports to the facility
  • Travelers should be aware of potential emergency response duties during hurricane season
