Description
Operating Room RN
Overview
- Specialty: Ambulatory OR RN
- Location: Charleston, South Carolina
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day, 4x10 hours (6:30 AM–5:00 PM)
- Schedule notes: Scheduled late a few times per month; day off depends on department needs; block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion
- Call: No on-call requirement
- Floating: May float within perioperative services to meet facility needs
- Local candidates: Accepted within 60 miles
- First-time travelers: Not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- OR - Operating Room (1 year of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ophthalmology experience
- ENT Surgery experience
- Surgical Oncology experience
- Plastic Surgery experience
- Orthopedics experience
Work Setting
- Pre-op/PACU environment with perioperative patient flow
- Cases include orthopedics, interventional radiology, and GI procedures
- The unit does not perform general surgery, labor and delivery, or pediatrics

- Copy of driver’s license or state ID
- Copy of Social Security card

- Background check
- Education verification
- References: 2 clinical references
- Complete application/resume
- Skills checklist
- Physical exam
- Fit test within 90 days of start
- Tdap within 10 years of start or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- TB questionnaire
- Rubeola, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B documentation
- Drug screen within 90 days of start
- COVID vaccination documentation or declination if not provided
- Flu vaccination documentation or exemption during flu season
- Radiation badge-related documentation if required by the assignment
- Orientation modules and first-day instructions must be completed before start
