PACU RN Travel Contract
Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day, 4x10 hours, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Setting: Short-term acute care, Level I trauma center, Magnet and teaching hospital
Role Summary
- Critical care RN for procedural pre-op and post-op recovery for endoscopy and interventional radiology patients
- Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
- Unit recovers a broad range of surgical patients, including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
- Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (2 years of experience)
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Critical care experience
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Blood product administration
- Intravenous vasopressor administration
- Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Care of ventilated patients
- Preoperative experience
- Experience with Epic
Skills Needed
- Epic familiarity
- Inpatient experience

- Starting IVs
- IV vasopressors

Work Expectations
- No weekends, holidays, or call
- Floating may be required within scope to PACU or PreOp units
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- No more than 7 days of requested time off
- Night shift staff would need to learn pre-op workflow
