Description

Labor and Delivery RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN position in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • 13-week contract
  • 36 hours per week
  • Night shift: 3x12s, 18:45–07:15
  • Weekend shifts required: 8 per contract
  • Call may be required if census is low
  • May occasionally float

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Antepartum care experience
  • External and internal fetal monitoring experience
  • IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) use experience
  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Blood and blood product administration experience
  • Anticoagulant administration experience
  • Insulin drip administration experience
  • Magnesium sulfate therapy experience
  • Pitocin administration experience
  • Prostaglandin administration experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS
  • AWHONN Advanced
  • Triage experience

Unit Details

  • Low-risk LDRP unit
  • Patient mix includes labor patients and couplets
  • Target ratios: L&D 1:1–2; couplet care 1:3 on average
  • 15 rooms / 17 beds
  • Unit includes antepartum, L&D, Level 1 nursery, LDRP, and mother/baby care
  • May occasionally take off-service female patients if census allows

Schedule and Assignment Notes

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Additional RTO on unit may result in cancellation and do-not-return status
  • Pre-approved time off may be accommodated depending on timing
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours, plus hospital orientation and 2 unit shifts

  • Scrubs provided: blue
  • Interview required before offer
