Description
Medical Surgical RN
Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Roanoke, Virginia
- Night shift: 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- 13-week assignment
- Adult medical-surgical unit with behavioral health and substance use disorder patients
- 12-bed inpatient unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Med Surg (1 year of experience)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- Proficiency with Rapid Response/Code teams
- Peripheral line care and management
- Non-invasive airway management
- Experience with Epic
Scheduling and Assignment Details
- Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Requests for time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling must be included with submission
- May be required to float within skillset
- May be required to work as charge and precept
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Charting
- EPIC experience required
Compliance and Onboarding
- Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Skills checklist required
- Background check required
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start
- Fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start
- Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation required
- Flu vaccination or declination/masking requirement applies during flu season
- Photo required for badge
- Access and confidentiality agreement required within 48 hours of signing
- New hire paperwork required before start
- Orientation manual review required before start, except inpatient RNs at all locations are exempt from that requirement
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
- Primary source license verification required
- HIPAA acknowledgement required
- Competency exam and medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
- Core training may be required for subcontractors
