Description

ICU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Saint Louis, Missouri

Contract

  • Travel/contract assignment
  • 13 weeks
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours
  • Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Guaranteed hours: 36

Unit and setting

  • ICU-Oncology
  • Short-term acute care hospital
  • Magnet, teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
  • 25 beds
  • Average daily census: 21
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2

Required qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with Epic

Schedule and assignment details

  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • May float within scope to oncology floors, oncology service line, ICU, and potentially anywhere as needed
  • No on-call
  • No block schedule
  • Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius
  • No more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract

Key clinical skills and responsibilities

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Multi-system organ failure care
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line and PICC line care
  • Starting IVs
  • Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
  • Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • BiPAP, ventilator, and high-flow nasal cannula care
  • ABG interpretation
  • Suctioning and infection prevention
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Phlebotomy
  • Surgical wound care with drains and wound vac

Preferred

  • BSN
  • Teaching hospital experience
  • Travel experience

Additional notes

  • No chemotherapy, central lines, or chest tubes on this unit
  • Nurses draw their own phlebotomy
  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Parking is available for an additional cost
