Description

Oncology RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Saint Louis, Missouri
  • 13-week assignment
  • Day shift, 5x8 hours, Monday–Friday
  • Start date is 3–4 weeks out per compliance tier
  • Guaranteed hours

Work Setting

  • Short-term acute care hospital
  • Magnet and teaching hospital; Level I trauma center
  • Primary work area is an oncology infusion/lab setting
  • Required to float as needed to other satellite locations in the area

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
  • Oncology (1 year of experience)
  • Oncology experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Ability to access and draw from ports and central venous catheters (CVCs)
  • Infusion center nursing skills
  • Central line blood draw capability
  • Central line and implanted line care
  • PICC line care
  • Neutropenic precautions knowledge and practice

Key Skills

  • Port and central line blood draws and care
  • PICC line care
  • Recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values
  • Strong assessment skills
  • IM injections
  • Isolation and neutropenic precautions

Schedule Notes

  • Shift times rotate as needed
  • Typical start times are 7:15 AM, 7:30 AM, or 8:00 AM
  • No weekend requirement
  • No on-call requirement

  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Drug testing required
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start

  • Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract
  • No more than 3 tardies and 2 call-ins per 13-week contract
  • Orientation modules are required for RNs
  • Vehicle registration form is required for day shifts
  • Navy scrubs
