RN - Med Surg

Overview

Location: Salem, Virginia
Employment type: Travel
Contract length: 13 weeks
Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Med Surg (2 years of experience)
Med Surg experience within the last year
BLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Orthopedics experience

Preferred Qualifications

PALS certification
Ability to care for pediatric patients
Familiarity with post-op orthopedic care

Unit Details

Medical-surgical unit with orthopedic, neuro, and pediatric patients
30 beds, with potential to increase to 36
Patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
Typical procedures include post-op orthopedic, post-op spine, and podiatry care

Work Environment

Day shift staffing includes 1 clinical coordinator, 5 RNs, 2 techs, and 1 unit secretary
Night shift staffing includes 5 RNs and 2 techs
Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and SCDs
