PCU RN Travel Contract

Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Location: Roanoke, Virginia
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day, 3x12s, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
  • Hours per week: 36

Schedule and unit details

  • Weekend coverage may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block.
  • One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract.
  • Floating is required within skillset.
  • Adult and geriatric PCU with high turnover.
  • Primary focus includes chest pain management, ER flow, MI rule-in/rule-out, overflow from cardiology and medicine PCU, and occasional post-cath patients.
  • Remote telemetry monitoring is used on the unit.

Required qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • 1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with Epic
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, activation of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care
  • Administration and management of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix – no titration)
