Description
NICU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Seattle, Washington
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (3 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or Heart Stroke Foundation
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or Heart Stroke Foundation
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Clinical Setting
- Level III or IV NICU
- Cares for infants as early as 23–24 weeks gestation
- Rarely floats, but may be assigned to SCN or Pediatrics/NBN for newborn care only
- Travelers usually do not admit babies because a dedicated Admit Nurse handles that role
Clinical Skills / Experience
- No ECMO
- Experience with CPAP/BiPap, high-frequency vents, oscillators, vents, blood and blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
- Attends high-risk deliveries
- Neonatal surgeries
Schedule Notes
- Block scheduling may be approved if preferred
- May work 3 or more shifts in a row
Compliance / Pre-Start Items
- Background check
- Education verification
- State patrol search for Washington
- Drug screen
- Fit mask clearance
- Physical exam
- TB screening
- Immunization/documentation requirements for flu, COVID, Tdap, MMR, varicella, and hepatitis B
- Respirator clearance
