ICU/PCU Float RN

Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Roanoke, Virginia.
• Must be comfortable working all ICU and PCU units.
• Night shift: 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Critical Care Float experience with 1 year of experience.
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association.
• NIHSS.
• Experience at a large Level 1 or Level 2 facility.
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience.
• Experience with Epic.
• IV therapy including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance.
• BiPAP and CPAP management.
• Ventilated patient care.
• Continuous IV sedation administration.
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Surgical wound care with drains or wound vacs.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• IV insulin protocol adherence.

Clinical Skills

• Arterial line management.
• Central/PICC line care.
• Blood product administration.
• IV initiation and maintenance.
• BiPAP and CPAP management.
• Ventilated patient care.
• Continuous IV sedation.
• Emergency medication administration.
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Surgical wound care with drains or wound vacs.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• IV insulin protocol adherence.

Unit Details

• PCU average ratio: 5:1.
• ICU average ratio: 2:1.

Additional Notes

• Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours.
• RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be included with submission.
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
