Registered Nurse, Med/Surg

Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: 40-hour evening shift, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; every other weekend and holiday
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience

Preferred Experience

• 1 year Med/Surg experience
• 1 year Telemetry experience
• 1 year Pediatrics experience

Key Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care and patient goals
• Provides care according to standards, protocols, policies, and procedures
• Provides patient and family teaching and discharge preparation
• Delegates and supervises nursing interventions appropriately
• Prioritizes patient care and responds to safety concerns
• Documents patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and on time
• Gives thorough handoff reports to support continuity of care
• Administers medications and intravenous therapy safely
• Assesses and manages pain, including reassessment and documentation
• Completes medication reconciliation documentation for the attending provider
• Interprets and documents cardiac rhythm and related findings, then initiates treatment per provider orders
• Supports surgical patient and family education and monitoring
• Uses and troubleshoots related equipment such as traction/orthopedic devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains
