Cardio Thoracic ICU RN

Overview

Travel/Contract assignment in Chesapeake, Virginia
13 weeks, with possible extension
Night shift: 3x12s or 4x12s
Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours
Cannot accommodate block scheduling
Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
Typical patient ratio: 1:1-2
Universal bed model includes step down patients

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with Epic
No license or background hits

Required Certifications

BLS issued by American Heart Association
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS

Required Skills

Arterial line management
Blood product administration
Central line care and management
PICC line management
Continuous intravenous sedation administration
Procedural sedation administration
Titration of cardiac drips
Titration of vasoactive drips
Strong neuro experience including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy management
FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Multi-system organ failure
CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
Impella
Post cardiac surgery, directly from the OR
Post cardiac surgery, not directly from the OR
Pre/Post cardiac cath/intervention
Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
IV insulin protocols
CVVHD/CRRT
CVA/Acute Stroke management
Assist with management of BiPAP, CPAP
Care of ventilated patient
High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Interpretation of ABGs
Suctioning (ETT, NT)
Ventilator management
Infection prevention
Isolation precautions / use of PPE
Surgical wounds with drains / wound vac
