Cardio Thoracic ICU RN

Overview

• Travel/contract assignment in Chesapeake, Virginia
• 13 weeks
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
• 48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours
• Cannot accommodate block scheduling
• Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
• Typical patient ratio: 1:1–2
• Candidates will also care for step down patients because of the universal bed model

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• CTICU - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Experience with arterial lines
• Blood Product Administration
• Experience with central line management
• PICC line management
• IV insertion skills
• Experience with conscious or moderate sedation
• Procedural Sedation Administration
• Titrate Cardiac drips
• Titrate Vasoactive drips
• Experience with neuro monitoring
• Experience with Epic

• CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
• Impella
• Post cardiac surgery, directly from the OR and not directly from the OR
• Pre/Post cardiac cath/intervention
• Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• IV insulin protocols
• CVVHD/CRRT
• CVA/Acute Stroke management
• Assist with management of BiPAP and CPAP
• Care of ventilated patient
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Ventilator management
• Infection prevention
• Isolation precautions / use of PPE
• Surgical wounds with drains / wound vac

Preferred

• Travel experience
• Previous travel experience

• Local RN candidates living within 50 miles of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare are not eligible
