Description

Medical Surgical RN

Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Wilmington, North Carolina
  • 13-week contract
  • Day shift: 12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • 36-hour and 48-hour contracts accepted
  • Longer contracts of 13–26 weeks accepted
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Locals accepted at local rate

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Med Surg (2 years of experience)
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Must be able to work holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPI
  • Charge nurse experience for night shift travelers

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Call required as needed
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding
  • Ratio: 1:6
  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team coverage and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty events, or disasters

  • Adult and geriatric general Med/Surg patients
  • Daily census: approximately 43
  • Heparin drips
  • Wound vac dressing changes
  • High flow oxygen
  • Limited short-term BiPap with respiratory support
  • No PCU-level patients on this unit

Orientation

  • 24 hours
