Labor and Delivery

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Seneca, South Carolina
• Night shift: 19:00–07:30
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend coverage: every other weekend
• Call and float are required

Unit / Clinical Setting

• LDRP with nursery responsibilities
• Baby Friendly Facility
• Unit also cares for GYN surgery patients
• Medication system: Omnicell

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• Lactation Certificate
• AWHONN Intermediate
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Responsibilities / Scope

• Cross-trained to labor and delivery, circulator role, acute care nursery, and OB triage
• Performs own hearing screenings
• Staffing ratios mentioned in source:

  • 1:1 with labor patients
  • 1:2 with cytotec inductions
  • 1:1 with mag patients
  • 1:3 with couplet (mother baby) care
  • 1:1 if a baby goes to the sick nursery

Floating

• Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed
• Floating is limited to areas where staff are qualified and have documented competencies

Additional Notes

• Unit will review first-time travelers depending on years of experience
