Endoscopy RN
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Roanoke, Virginia
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift options: 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, or 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Does not accept locals
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Endoscopy (1 year of experience)
- Endoscopy experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Scrub experience in endoscopy procedures
- Recovery of conscious sedation
- Recovery of monitored anesthesia care sedation
- Experience with balloon dilators and dilators
- Experience with electrosurgical units and ERBE equipment
- Experience with polyp snares and foreign body equipment
- Ability to perform colonoscopy procedures
- Ability to perform EGD procedures
- Ability to perform ERCP procedures
- Experience with esophageal varices and banding procedures
- Experience with Epic
Required Clinical Skills
- Airway management
- Recover conscious sedation
- Recover monitored anesthesia care sedation
- Circulate
- Colonoscopy
- EGD
- ERCP
- Esophageal varices and banding
- Scrubbing
- Inpatient and outpatient endoscopy settings
- Portable/bedside travel cases
- Pre/post procedure care
- Monitoring and assessments including lab values, isolation, malignant hyperthermia, pain, PCA, and RASS
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Specimen handling and labeling
- Obtain 12 lead ECG
- Starting and maintaining IVs
Schedule and Call
- Weekend requirement: see call
- Call rotation with staff: 4 weeknights in a 6-week schedule, plus 1 weekend
- Must work one holiday or take call per 13-week contract
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

- Patient population includes adolescents, neonates, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
