Pathology Assistant Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pathology Assistant in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting
- Proficient in specimen accessioning, labeling, and grossing
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Commitment to laboratory safety, compliance, and hospital policies
Pathology Assistant Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accession records and ensure proper specimen labeling and fixation in accordance with hospital laboratory standards
- Perform grossing with detailed, concise, and complete descriptions and dissections for surgical pathology specimens
- Enhance laboratory efficiency through effective task prioritization, workflow coordination, and clinical support
- Verify specimen receipt and integrity; coordinate activities with clerical and professional staff
- Conduct quality audits and maintain clean, sterile work areas and laboratory instruments
- Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment as per hospital policy
- Support staffing needs across all shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Communicate professionally with medical staff, hospital personnel, and supervisors
- Comply with all hospital and laboratory safety requirements and healthcare regulations
- Contribute to departmental improvements and perform additional duties as assigned
