Mammography Technologist Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-accredited Radiology Technologist program
• Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) – required
• ARRT Mammography Certification – required
• ARRT Breast Ultrasound Certification (required within one year of hire)
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Mammography Technologist; 2+ years preferred
• Strong professional communication and patient care skills
• Excellent customer service and eye-hand coordination
• Competency in all radiology specialty areas preferred

Mammography Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform mammography and breast ultrasound procedures following clinical and hospital radiology protocols
• Provide patient care across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Review imaging requests, consult with Radiologists, and follow special instructions
• Accurately identify and greet patients, verifying procedures and patient information
• Educate patients and families about radiology procedures
• Document patient history and complete exam and billing requirements
• Record technical observations and seek assistance when necessary
• Communicate diagnostic information to attending physicians
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Follow departmental procedures and exercise independent judgment
• Integrate exams, lab results, and patient history to adapt procedures as needed
• Deliver culturally competent care to patients from diverse backgrounds
• Maintain a positive attitude with patients and staff
• Participate in clinical education for students and staff
• Conduct preventive safety inspections and manage exam room inventory
• Respond efficiently to emergency situations
• Build effective relationships with patients, the public, and the healthcare team
