Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details
- Job Title: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – NICU/PICU (Mixed-Age Coverage)
- Location: Baltimore, MD 21201
- Start Date: 03/02/2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (through 06/01/2026)
- Shift: Night shift
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights (18:30–07:00 or 19:00–07:30)
- Hours: 36 hours/week (3x12); 48 hours/week (4x12) may be accepted
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: As scheduled
- Floating: Required within respiratory care scope (must be strong in NICU/PICU and adult care)
- On-Call: Not routinely required (no pre-scheduled on-call shifts)
- Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1,780–$1,910
- EMR/Charting: Epic (preferred)
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years of recent critical care respiratory therapy experience required
- Clinical Background: Strong PICU/NICU respiratory therapist experience required; must also be competent with adult respiratory care when assigned (e.g., ER/ICU/other units within scope)
- License: Active Maryland respiratory therapist license or Compact license (as applicable) at time of submission
- Certifications (required): RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (AHA for BLS/ACLS/PALS; NRP via NRP or AAP)
- Patient Populations: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
- Preferred: Trauma Level I/II experience; charge/lead experience
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities (NICU/PICU + Adult Coverage)
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care across high-acuity settings, including NICU, PICU, and adult care areas as assigned
- Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation and non-invasive support (e.g., CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC), including weaning and alarm management
- Support advanced neonatal/pediatric modalities and therapies such as jet ventilation, oscillation (HFOV), and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO)
- Perform respiratory assessments; administer aerosolized medications; provide pulmonary hygiene and airway clearance therapies
- Assist with and/or perform airway procedures within scope (intubation assist, extubation, suctioning, tracheostomy care/management)
- Respond to emergent respiratory needs in critical care and emergency environments, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Document care accurately in Epic and follow unit protocols for critical care respiratory therapy support
