Job Requirements

• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through NMTCB or ARRT Nuclear Medicine certification required
• Maine State Radiologic Technologist license for Nuclear Medicine required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC preferred
• Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine imaging procedures, radiopharmaceutical handling, and quality control practices
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards for patient safety, image quality, and clinical accuracy

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and physician orders to prepare for nuclear medicine imaging and therapy procedures
• Educate patients on procedures, equipment, and expectations to support comfort and cooperation
• Prepare, administer, store, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals and medications according to protocols and regulations
• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures and respond appropriately to changes in status
• Set up equipment and supplies, select proper exposure factors, and follow radiation safety standards
• Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot or report equipment issues as needed
• Position patients, perform imaging studies, evaluate image quality, and repeat scans when necessary
• Enter, transmit, and report scan results accurately and in a timely manner
