Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,080
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel respiratory therapy assignment
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Holiday Coverage: Holidays as needed
• Healthcare Setting: On-site short-term acute care hospital
• Charting: Epic
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Floating: Travelers should be prepared to support hospital departments, including NICU and pediatric units, based on census and staffing needs

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Previous travel respiratory therapist experience required
• Current Connecticut respiratory care license
• Current BLS certification
• Current CRT or RRT credential; RRT is strongly preferred
• Draeger ventilator experience required
• Experience with acute care respiratory therapy, mechanical ventilation, airway management, and interpretation of arterial blood gases
• Level II trauma experience strongly preferred
• NICU, pediatric critical care, high-frequency ventilation, or neonatal transport experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability to work nights, every other weekend, holidays, and float throughout the hospital as needed
• Flu vaccination is required

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to neonates, pediatric patients, adults, and geriatric patients
• Assess respiratory status and develop, implement, and evaluate therapy plans in collaboration with the care team
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators, including Draeger systems, high-frequency jet ventilators, and oscillating ventilators
• Provide care involving CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, SIMV, airway clearance, oxygen delivery systems, and ventilator weaning
• Perform and interpret arterial and capillary blood gas testing and support emergency airway management
• Assist with intubation, extubation, suctioning, tracheostomy care, bronchoscopy support, and other respiratory procedures
• Support neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, including NICU and high-risk patient needs
• Respond to emergency department and critical care respiratory needs
• Float to other hospital units and support an adaptable care model based on staffing and patient volume
• Document care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
• Assist with orientation or education of students and new team members when requested
