Medical Laboratory Technician Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,470–$1,580
• Location: On-site in Cincinnati, Ohio
• Department: Core Laboratory
• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 4, 2027
• Schedule: Four 10-hour night shifts per week
• Shift: 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Rotating weekends and holiday commitment
• Call: No call requirements
• Scheduling: No blocked scheduling

Medical Laboratory Technician Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification or eligibility for certification through a nationally recognized agency
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred and accepted as specified for the assignment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or an approved equivalent educational pathway
• Qualified candidates may also meet education requirements through 60 semester hours of academic credit, including chemistry and biology coursework, along with completion of an accredited medical laboratory technician program
• Completion of a qualifying U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the past 10 years may also be accepted
• Ability to work independently on overnight shifts while maintaining accuracy, safety, and clinical laboratory quality standards

Core Laboratory Responsibilities

• Perform routine, moderate, and highly complex laboratory diagnostic testing on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids
• Confirm test results and provide reliable laboratory data to support diagnosis and treatment decisions
• Perform, document, and evaluate quality control activities
• Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate laboratory instruments and equipment
• Work with general laboratory analyzers and testing platforms in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, and blood bank services
• Complete required documentation and computer functions within laboratory and hospital information systems
• Assist with inventory control and help maintain adequate laboratory supplies
• Support the training of new employees and students on laboratory equipment and testing procedures
• Participate in continuing education and maintain competency within assigned areas of expertise
• Collaborate with laboratory assistants, phlebotomists, and laboratory technician assistants to support efficient department operations
